The main argument in this article is whether Obama should send more US soldiers to Afghanistan.
The main support strategy I see this article using is the use of authority figures who support the use of more troops in Afghanistan. The article uses the support of former Presidential candidate, John McCain as well as other US military officials. Another support strategy would be that of Ad Populem. A statement is made in the article that says that if Obama refuses to send more troops to Afghanistan, he will be going against the advice of the US military. This statement pitts Obama against a large group of people. From what I can see this article comes from a fairly neutral point and I don't see any alternate ways of thinking being suggested.
